Reputable
access control systems, such as RS2, provide authentication, authorization, and
administration. Authentication is a process in which users are
challenged for identity credentials so that it is possible to verify
that they are who they say they are. Once a user has been
authenticated, authorization determines what resources a user is
allowed to access. A user can be authenticated to a network domain, but
only be authorized to access one system or file within that domain.
Administration refers to the ability to add, delete, and modify user
accounts and user account privileges.
Basically, access
control devices properly identify people, and verify their identity
through the authentication process so they can be held accountable for
their actions. Some access control systems even record and timestamp all
communications and transactions so that access to systems and
information can be audited at later dates.

How does it Work?
When a credential is presented to a reader, the reader sends the
credential’s information, usually a number, to a control panel, a
highly reliable processor. The control panel compares the credential's
number to an access control list, grants or denies the presented
request, and sends a transaction log to a database.
When access is
denied based on the access control list, the door remains locked. If
there is a match between the credential and the access control list,
the control panel operates a relay that in turn unlocks the door. Often the reader provides feedback, such as a flashing red LED for an
access denied and a flashing green LED for an access granted.

What are the benefits?
Protects Your Assets.
The RS2 Access Control system works as a sentinel on your site. Armed
with highly-visible, strategically-placed electronic access control
devices, the system is an extremely effective
deterrent. It provides a very efficient means of granting entry, while
maintaining a high level of building and property security. By
preventing just one incident per year, an RS2 Access Control system
can more than pay for itself.
Protects Your Employees.
In addition to asset protection, the RS2 Access Control system is your
assurance that your employees will be protected. Our system allows
entry to only those who are authorized and keeps out unwelcome
intruders. You can rely on Primary Systems and RS2 to put your
mind at ease.
Restricts Unauthorized Access. With the RS2 Access Control system you will have the capability of restricting who can go where and when. The system allows you to decide who is allowed
entry to every door and gate by time of day. For example, executive
management can be allowed access to all areas at all times 24x7x365,
while certain workers can be restricted to entry through specified
doors only during normal business hours.
Provides Audit Trail.
The RS2 Access Control system not only restricts who can go where and
when, but it can also provide an audit trail of who is accessing your facility and
when. You can easily find out who was in a specific area at an exact
time that an incident occurred.
Eliminates Key Problems.
By installing an RS2 Access Control system, you will
eliminate all the problems associated with mechanical key and lock
systems, for example the time and cost of re-keying when an employee is
terminated, the cost of duplicate keys, lost keys, tracking who has
keys, worrying about easy-to-duplicate keys getting in the wrong hands,
etc.
