Bosch Security Systems, Inc., a full-line manufacturer of high-quality security solutions, today announced the release of the Bosch Divar XF Hybrid Digital Video Recorder (DVR). This embedded DVR offers end users a future-proof investment by enabling easy migration to IP - supporting eight or 16 analog cameras and up to eight H.264 IP video streams.

The Divar XF delivers high-quality images for both live viewing and recorded video with up to full 4CIF resolution on all channels. Featuring advanced H.264 compression technology, the unit minimizes system bandwidth and storage requirements - reducing storage costs by up to 30 percent compared with systems that use traditional MPEG-4 encoding.

With RAID-4 technology, video is stored on up to four internal hard disk drives to assure maximum protection of recorded video and deliver uninterrupted system reliability even in the event of a drive failure. The drives are accessible from the front of the unit to make it easier for technicians to service the unit and to provide the flexibility to add drives or larger-capacity disks when needed. Capacity can be expanded up to 4 terabytes with a Bosch storage expansion kit.

An easy to use system, the Divar XF includes an optional DVD burner, enabling video clips to be burned directly to disk without the need for a PC. A keyboard loop-through feature also allows up to 16 Divar XF recorders to be controlled from a single Bosch IntuiKey keyboard. This capability allows end users to consolidate control of multiple recorders and up to 384 pan-tilt-zoom cameras using just one joystick - streamlining system management.

Customers can upgrade installed Divar XF DVRs to gain hybrid capability, RAID-4 support and advanced user management features without replacing their existing units. New firmware for these systems - version 2.0 - is now available on the Bosch Web site. While the firmware is free, some new features require an optional software license.
